Teachings from the Forest with the Indigenous Huni Kuin Women of the Amazon
[4-Week Online Study Program]
16 September to 14 October, 2026
This one-month online study program invites you into a space of listening, learning, and relational study with Indigenous Huni Kuin women from the Brazilian Amazon, their partnering NGO and cross-cultural researcher, Alisa Reimer. Through intimate conversations on Zoom, video lectures, a curated library with interviews, documentaries, literature and study impulses and other exclusive materials, we explore ways of knowing that emerge from forest, lineage, ritual, and resistance.
Anchored in the voices of women who carry ancestral memory and contemporary vision, this journey offers an encounter with living knowledge that is both deeply rooted and urgently relevant.
The Huni Kuin
The Huni Kuin are an Indigenous people of the Amazon, living in Acre, Brazil, and neighboring Peru, whose culture is deeply rooted in the Amazon rainforest. After first contact in the early 20th century, they faced violence, displacement, and the threat of cultural and physical eradication. Today, they actively protect their ancestral knowledge, spiritual traditions, and land. The Huni Kuin women are cultural leaders: artists, healers, and guardians of memory who use their practices to strengthen community and resist erasure.
