HER
Installation and Participatory Space by Alisa Reimer
HER is a site-specific installation conceived as a spatial proposition for encounter, care, and reflection. Drawing on research into pre-Hispanic cosmologies, the work references Tonantzin as a historical and symbolic figure associated with ideas of origin, protection, and fertility in Mesoamerican cultures.
Rather than functioning as a ritual space in a literal sense, HER approaches the form of the altar as a cultural and spatial framework: a structure that has historically mediated relationships between material conditions, collective memory, and systems of belief. Within the installation, this form is recontextualized as a contemporary field of relation – a space for observation, participation, and shared attention.
Throughout Art Week, the installation remains open-ended and subject to subtle change. Gestures, presences, and material contributions gradually become part of its evolving configuration, emphasizing process over fixed outcome.
The work engages with elemental materials – water, air, earth, and fire – alongside ether, understood here as a conceptual extension of the classical elements and articulated through sound. Together, these components function as both material and conceptual references, pointing to cycles of transformation, continuity, and care.
HER proposes a slowing down of perception and an attentiveness beyond constant production and noise. It asks how forms of listening, responsibility, and collective presence might be articulated within an exhibition context – and what it could mean to hold space together, temporarily and consciously.
Information on moments of activation and participation is available in the link below. Visitors are welcome to engage with the installation during opening hours.

SOFT POWER
Multidisciplinary Group Exhibition
4 - 8 Feb
Soft Power brings together artistic practices that understand material culture as a site of knowledge, memory and relation. Across sculpture, installation, painting, photography and sound, the exhibition explores how materials carry histories, shape perception and generate forms of agency beyond representation. Craft, image and sound are approached not as fixed traditions, but as living practices shaped by exchange, care and transformation.
